Currently, Paula Brust operates a private counseling practice in Jessup. Responsibilities include: Individual, Marital, Family counseling; stress management, relaxation training, assertiveness training, and women’s issues. Treatment provided to drug/alcohol and numerous addictive behaviors. Counseling for victims of sexual violence/sexual offenders.  Relapse prevention techniques.  Approved provider for treatment of sex offenders and sexually violent predators. In addition, Paula Brust is a BOARD MEMBER OF THE PENNSYLVANIA SEXUAL OFFENDERS ASSESSMENT BOARD. Her responsibilities include Parole Board Risk Assessments and Assessments for Sexually Violent Predator.  She has Completed 2000 hours direct service with sex offenders, sex offender/sexual deviance research, education, supervision of staff working in the field of sexual deviance.  Attends specialized trainings in the field of sexual deviance, including participation in the SOAB sponsored trainings (minimum of 15 hours credit annually). In addition, she Consults with the SOAB staff psychologist and other mental health professionals experienced in the evaluation and treatment of sexual deviancy.  Uses tests/methods approved by the SOAB, having been found relevant, valid, and reliable for use under the mandate imposed by statute.  Adheres to a standard format for the assessments, and conducts the assessment using the same criteria as all other SOAB board members.  As an appointee of the Governor, follows the Code of Conduct, as it applies to officials/employees of the Commonwealth.  Reviews all    documents/literature provided for consideration in the course of duties as an expert in the field of sexual deviancy. As a board member, I adhere to the following standards for the assessment of sex offenders required by statute. Cities and counties include: Lackawanna, Luzerne, Luzern, Scranton, Clarks Summit, Pittston, Throop, Jessup, Jermyn, Olyphant, Archbald, Dunmore, Old Forge, Peckville, Clarks Green, Dickson City, Pennsylvania.
